Moving day

Six Weeks Before Move:

  • Call for moving estimates.
  • Call the Chamber Of Commerce and Visitors & Convention Bureau in your new town and get their new resident information packages.
  • Inventory all household items to be moved, and start packing NOW!
  • Remove all items from basement, storage sheds, attics, and plan a garage sale or charity donation for all items you don't want to move.
  • Start using things up that you can't move, like cleaning supplies and frozen food.
  • Discuss tax-related moving expenses, liabilities, and deductions with your tax advisor.
  • Make a list of all people/organizations to contact about change of address.
  • Complete U.S. Postal Service change of address forms and mail them to all applicable publications, stores and organizations.
  • Get copies of (or arrange for transfer at both ends of move) all school, medical, dental, veterinary, legal, and accounting records.
  • Contact insurance agents to transfer or cancel coverage.
  • If it's a company move, check with your employer to find out what moving expenses they cover.
  • Get a mail subscription for the local paper in your new location to familiarize yourself with the new community, its activities and issues.
  • Locate and obtain all automobile licensing and registration information.

Four Weeks Before Move:

  • Get an itemized list of all moving related costs and review with mover, including packing, loading, special charges, insurance, vehicles (if needed), etc.
  • Contact all current and new location utility companies (gas, water, electric, cable TV, phone & trash collection) to set connect/disconnect dates. Remember to keep current utilities hooked up until move day.
  • Make arrangements for relocation of pets and plants.
  • Move valuables to safe deposit box to prevent loss during move.
  • If you are packing yourself, acquire packing materials/boxes and pack items you won't need for the next month.
  • If professional mover is packing your goods, schedule packing day(s) 1 or 2 days before move.
  • Prepare any mowers, snow blowers, boats, snowmobiles (or other vehicles you won't be using before the move) for the move by servicing and draining gas and oil, to prevent a moving van fire.
  • Repair, send out for re-upholstery, or clean furniture, drapes, carpeting as needed.

What my clients are saying

Cerae provided exceptional service and direction for us during our buying/selling adventure. Her experience and knowledge about the local community helped us find our forever home. Cerae is very attentive to her clients. She is thorough and knowledgeable. She is skilled in dealing with tough sellers. She is a joy to work with and has your best interest at heart!

~ The Satterfields

Cerae is so helpful and always available for questions. She works very hard for her clients.

~ Perry

Cerae's knowledge and expertise were very helpful to us in purchasing our home. Her cheerful attitude made our search a pleasant experience.

~ The Kauffman's

I’ve known Cerae for many many years & she is the hardest working lady I know. She supported the sale of my house every step of the way. There were no surprises, and she went totally above & beyond to complete the job. I highly recommend her to sell or help you buy a home!

~ V. Barnes

Cerae patiently worked with us for almost a year to help us find the perfect house. Since we were moving from out of state, we weren’t sure which town, or even which county was right for us. Cerae helped us to narrow down the towns that we wanted to live in, and we covered an enormous area before we found a house we liked in a town that we liked. We looked at so many houses, and Cerae was always thorough gathering information that ranged from helping us determine an offer price to finding supporting documents to help us understand complex easement issues. We’ve moved many times and have worked with many realtors, and I would highly recommend Cerae to anyone looking to buy or sell a home

~ Mike & Tina T.

I appreciate your work on this estate and it has been so nice working with you!"

~ E. Hickman, Esq.

Cerae Cooper is indeed the most knowledgable realtor I have ever had the privilege of working with, thorough in business and dedicated to doing the best job possible. From the beginning she not only gave clear instructions as to how to prepare my home to sell but assisted in finding resources to make the property and home sell for the best price. Through the entire process of selling my home, Cerae took time to contact me daily and give updates on how the sell was going. I would tell anyone who wants a realtor who can get the job done for them in a short time, and who sincerely cares for you and your interests personally, call Cerae Cooper!

~ Carolyn G.

"I have known Cerae for many years. She is one of the most honest-trustworthy people I know. She is incredibly knowledgable in both the selling and buying aspects of homes. With her we sold our home in a short time and she walked with us every step of the way with our new home build. When I was anxious, she was the voice of reason. She made the entire process seem almost seamless. She worked hard day and night and was always available to us. I highly recommend her in both the buying and selling aspects."

~ B Adams
